This is a film about Jeffrey Lebowski or as he likes to be called, The Dude (Jeff Bridges). He is an easy going, unemployed guy who likes to bowl. His two friends, Rodger (John Goodman) and Donnie (Steve Buschemi) are his partners. All is well for The Dude until someone breaks into his house and pisses on his rug. The Dude starts a conquest to make these people accountable or at least replace the rug. He goes to the house of a millionaire who has the name as him, the person who these 'carpet peers' were looking for. Finding no luck here, he takes a rug and leaves.
Later, he gets a call from 'The Big Lebowski' and he is instructed to make a drop for an abduction, as 'The Big Lebowski's trophy wife has been abducted. The drop goes wrong. How will Jeffrey get himself out of this when he has foes like Jackie Treehorn, the pornographer and the fascist police chief?
